Music

Whether we sing in the pew, sing in the choir, play a Alan Beaulieumusical instrument, or ring a handbell, we have the incredible opportunity to express through music our living faith in the Christ who has triumphed gloriously for us. Please take a few moments to review the opportunities that are listed here and prayerfully consider your place in the ministry of music.

Music in the Pews
One way in which all of us can participate in the ministry of music by taking the opportunity to sing the hymns and service music that form a part of our weekly liturgies. Singing is prayer, and sung prayer has the power to unify us like nothing else. The point is not whether we (or our neighbors in the pew!) feel as though we have “good voices.” The point is that we offer praise to God in the most honest and heart-felt manner that we can.

Music in the Choir
The Trinity Choir rehearses on Sunday mornings, beginning at 9:00 a.m. In preparation for Christmas and Easter, the choir also rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:30 – 9:15 p.m. The Choir sings at the 10:30 service each Sunday, from September through June. Everyone who enjoys singing, whatever his or her level of ability, is warmly invited to join! No formal choral training or note-reading experience is required. The Choir sings a rich and varied repertoire of choral music, from plainchant and Renaissance motets to anthems by contemporary composers. On occasion, the Choir performs large-scale compositions with instrumental accompaniment.

Music with the Handbell Choir
What is a handbell? It is a bell, cast in bronze, tuned to a specific pitch in the scale of notes. Groups of handbells are then played together to produce chords and harmony. A handbell choir is made up of people who perform pieces that have been composed specifically for handbells. No previous experience or training is required, only a desire to praise God while ringing bells – and an ability to count! The Bell Choir rehearses Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m.

Do You Play an Instrument?
If you play an instrument, the Music Minister would love to speak with you. We are always looking for people willing to share their talents as they enrich our worship!

We Have Special Concerts, Too!
All parishioners and friends are invited to support and enjoy the music program at Trinity by attending the special concerts that are offered during the year. Wondering when the next concert might be? Contact Music Minister, Katherine Carlson at the link below!

In the fall of 2005, the Trinity Choir, the Alleluia Children’s Choir, the Handbell Choir, organist Katherine Carlson, and many other musicians gathered together to offer an evening of music and song for the benefit of the Esperanza School in Lawrence. We helped raise more than $6,000!   In 2006 and 2007, the bell choir played for The Topsfield Christmas Walk.
