When
we gather in worship we are engaging in one of the foundational
actions of our Christian lives - we are joining with our brothers
and sisters here and across the world to praise God, to hear
God’s word; to pray for ourselves, each other, and our
world; and to celebrate the sacraments. Worship is the work
of the entire community, not just of the clergy. Some of the
many ways to participate in worship at Trinity are listed
below. Please contact the indicated person for further information.
Please remember that the most important way to participate
is by simply coming to church! For further information about
any of these opportunities to serve in worship you can contact
the parish office (978-887-5570 or (trinity.episcopalchurch@verizon.net)
or the Rev. Johanna Barrett at jo.barrett@verizon.net.
Readers
(Lectors): Lectors read the lessons at each worship service.
Training is offered annually. Lectors may receive additional
training (offered by the diocese) to be licensed to lead
Morning and Evening Prayer. Contact the Rev. Johanna Barrett
(jo.barrett@verizon.net)
to volunteer or for further information.
Eucharistic
Ministers: Eucharistic Ministers offer the chalice (the
wine) at communion and may lead the reading of the psalm
and the Prayers of the People. Training is offered annually
in the parish. Eucharistic Ministers may also be trained
and specially licensed to take communion to those who are
in the hospital or home-bound. This advanced training is
offered through the diocese. To volunteer, please contact
the Rev. Johanna Barrett (jo.barrett@verizon.net).
Altar
Guild: Members of the Altar Guild set up the altar for services
and care for the linens and liturgical items to be used.
Guild members work in teams and are scheduled to serve periodically.
Contact Barbara Hopper (978-887-8884) or the parish office
for further information or to volunteer.
Acolytes:
Carrying the cross or one of the two torches, acolytes lead
the choir, Eucharistic ministers, and clergy into and out
of the sanctuary for worship. They also assist when the
offering is taken up and help set and clear the altar for
communion. Acolytes must be 10 years of age. Since the processional
cross is fairly heavy, crucifers (those who carry the cross
in procession) are usually older. Adults are welcome as
acolytes! Training is offered annually. To volunteer or
for further information, contact Donna Rich (978-887-3324)
or the parish office.
Choirs:
Trinity has two choirs, one of voices and one of handbells.
To volunteer or for further information contact the music
minister, Katherine Carlson (katherine.e.carlson@verizon.net)
or the parish office.
Greeters:
Greeters welcome people as they arrive for worship and answer
any questions they may have. Assisting newcomers and visitors
is their special ministry. To volunteer or for further information
contact the parish office (trinity.episcopalchurch@verizon.net).
Ushers:
Ushers offer the service bulletin to those arriving for
worship, help seat people (as needed) and take up the offering.
To volunteer or for further information contact the parish
office (trinity.episcopalchurch@verizon.net).
