Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ's Body, the church. In the waters of baptism we are adopted by God into God’s family, given God’s own life to share, and are reminded that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ. Baptism is appropriate for people of any age, not just infants. The baptismal promises are made for infants by their parents and sponsors (Godparents).
Baptism takes place during the Sunday morning worship service and is especially appropriate at certain times during the year: the Sunday after the Epiphany, on the eve of Easter, on the Day of Pentecost, and the Sunday after All Saints Day. In some cases, baptisms may be scheduled at other times in consultation with the Rector.
If you are interested in baptism for a child or for yourself, please contact the Parish Office. We ask parents to complete a baptism information form and require a meeting with the Rector which includes a discussion about the meaning of baptism, and a rehearsal for the service.
